If you've ever made homemade applesauce you know how wonderful it tastes. Especially when eaten warm on a chilly day. This is my daughter Grace's version of chunky applesauce we call apple pie in a jar. Today's batch had the addition of pears. Sometimes she adds cranberries. Oh my, so good! Besides eating as-is in a bowl or on the side with a meal, it also makes a quick and easy filling for petite pies and turnovers. There are dozens of recipes and methods for making applesauce using a crockpot, or baking in a Dutch oven, or using an Insta-pot, etc...but Grace just uses a large stock-pot and cooks it up on the stove. Filled canning jars are stored in the fridge for up to ten days, although it never seems to last that long!
Sounds like a wonderful way to use apples. And can cranberries be bad in anything? I think not. Take care, Vicki! ☕🥧
