Hope all's well wherever you are and that you have warmth and comfort in the midst of these winter days. The weather here has been frigid and sodden. An icy snow storm arrived in scattered locations up and down the northwest Friday night. By morning the electricity was out for most of the state mostly due to downed trees or their branches snapping and entangling the power lines. Yesterday, without power, I went into pioneer mode with my wax candles and shawl. The gas cooktop my only modern kitchen convenience. And so very grateful for it too! After the second cup of tea I tried to tackle a few things on my lengthy to-do list, but it was so dark inside the house that I didn't actually accomplish very much. Strange how a place and a routine so familiar can become completely disorientating without electricity. To add to the mix, no cell service out here either. A slow drive into town remedied that--and as an added bonus I was able to finally get my hair dry by switching the heat fan to MAX. Such blissful warmth inside the car! Hardships (and snow days) do teach us how to make use of our inner and natural resources. Where there's a will, there's a way.
Such is navigating through February and it's many surprises and fickle nature. Gotta keep on your toes. It's tricky. And mysterious. Because, even though it's (thankfully) the shortest month, time just seems to pass more slowly. Which is why Valentine's Day with its hearts and flowers and friendship and romance is an encouraging nod, a ray of sunshine, a musical note--right in the middle of a usually sullen month. So "Happy Valentine's Day" for all that and more to everyone out there.
Special of the day: Choco cupcakes compliments of daughter Grace.
In the meantime, between the snow droplets and icy roads, the building crew has been here constructing beautiful lattice topped fences and garden gates with arbors, making me dream of spring and all that is soon to come.
