As the fun crafting continues . . . it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! We got our tree up last weekend. Early for a change, and happily so, remembering last year's crazy armoire dilemma. Followed by a wonderful happy ending here.
I love that fresh pine smell when entering the room--and the way the twinkle lights cast a warm glow all around. This year, just for fun, we pulled out some really, really old ornaments from my 1980's "folk art" days, consisting of rag balls, cloth dolls, painted wood toys, vintage elves and other homespun treasures. And I'm enjoying all the Christmas memories that go with each one.
See how cute these are? Perfect for the young ones and the young at heart older ones too.
Remember that microwave box in the last post with the Laura Ashley wallpaper that I promised to show you?
Well, here's how it turned out. Fresh off the craft table and ready for action.
Here's a close-up view. The small tree is from Hobby Lobby and is decorated with miniature vintage glass ornaments from my favorite thrift shop. Lights were also added. That adorable cupboard got a teensy make-over with white paint. The man who hand-crafted this is a retired cabinet maker and often accompanies his wife to doll shows. He always brings along a few pieces of doll furniture to sell. His work is absolutely flawless and sturdy--this was actually made from maple; and although I hesitated a bit to paint over it, I'm quite pleased with how it turned out. The doors open and there's a shelf inside to stash more treasures. The felt gingerbread couple are new to my shop and include various accessories; Ginger is the talent behind these darling characters. I'm still making miniatures; books and tote bags, stuffed stockings and other small stuff.
Such as Grandma's Christmas Goodie Boxes!
These are 1:12 scale, doll house size and in my shop here.
I've still got lots to do and time is ticking. Getting ready to zoom outta here and have some more fun in the "workshop". Have a great weekend everybody!
So heartwarming and inspiring!
