Hello Friends! Summer is going by fast isn't it? Still sticking close to home, working on house projects. This week we say goodbye to the white picket fences around the border of our backyard. Those pickets have been standing there, I believe, since 1991. More for show than security. Our deer visitors have knocked pitiful sections of it down already. In the spring they jumped in and tipped over and cracked my favorite birdbath to get to the bird feeders. I was fairly shocked that they even cared for birdseed. They just lapped it up. Then one night, under the cover of darkness, one of the big bucks managed to get himself tangled up in our badminton net and dragged it off to places unknown (we've still never found it). However, parts of it are still dangling from the culprits antlers! Silly deer. They do keep us on our toes. But all that's about to change because the new fence will be deer-proof. We hope.
In the meantime, everything we try and grow is pretty much still inside a protective cage. We also love our new "nature-friendly" freestanding movable badminton net. It's awesome. No more strings and stakes. Instant fun!
