Hello Friends, just popping in for a quick 'howdy-do'. We are in the middle of summer and for the most part, life is good here at home. There is a sense of peace that the natural world provides and our garden is alive and vibrant and offering up its goodness. Some for the senses and some for the soul.
And some for the teapot! Chamomile is a calming companion.
Currently, we are pulling up the sweet basil. And that means pesto! Making many batches and freezing in plastic snack bags. These bags are easy to store and handy when I need a bit of summer flavor. I've previously shared my process here and the basic recipe here. For peeling garlic I still find this very handy.
When I can find it, I sometimes use elephant garlic.
Grace's cucumbers are early and quite bountiful this year and that means it's pickle time too. My Grandma's recipe for Crunchy Garlic Dills is the one I always use. So I'm off to my "summer kitchen" to find some canning jars.
Hope you are all doing well and staying safe and enjoying the gifts of nature this season in one form or another. If you look, you'll see them all around, waiting to be discovered.
May your summer days be golden!
NEWS FLASH UPDATE: Grace has been busy at the doll house bakery! Her annual *Christmas in July* sale runs from the 24th through the 29th! Short but SWEET.
Thanks for a taste from your summer, Vicki. You certainly are having a lovely one! Take care!
