Here's an update on my Field & Forest lap quilt. I'm still experimenting with the colors and layout. A few of the blocks are already sewn together, with other "floating sections" laid out on my design wall, which I am still using and absolutely LOVE. (Some of you may remember this project, introduced way back HERE in 2006!)
Anyway, the design wall is great for small projects like this. I may rearrange everything a few more times before I'm done. I've got another stack of embroidered squares to be trimmed and sewn into blocks waiting in the wings. Hope to get to those later today. It's cooled down quite a bit here with clouds and everything--a good day for stitching!
Slow ad steady is good, if you have time. I'm glad you do, enjoy. your quilt is lovely.

It's looking great! This reminds me of a crazy quilt my husband's great-grandmother made out of wool. She had embroidered motifs of all sorts of creatures and called the quilt "Dreams of the Forest".

I love those old crazy quilts, they are so interesting to look at. I think I will have to do some sort of seam-stitching on this one in that style. I would've loved to see great-grandma's "Dreams of the Forest" quilt--it sounds quite enchanting.
