I’m always a little sad when summer dwindles and the days shorten again. Suddenly, all those golden hours of light that lingered long after the dinner hour, are over. Time to pack up the picnic table and plug in the crockpot. Light the lanterns and settle in. Fall is at the door. Like a long lost friend we haven’t seen for awhile. A welcome friend! Because it means sewing, stitching and knitting are back on our laps. And all the comforts and day dreams that go along with that.
Kitting and fall just go hand-in-hand and Grace's knitting needles have been clicking away. A sweater is taking shape. A 'Button Yoke Cardi', to be more precise. Done in seed stitch with garter stitching for the contrasting bands. Grace chose a russet-rose and cream combination in a 80W/20A yarn from Michael's. I think it turned out darling. This sweet little sweater is just right for the cooler days.

Very sweet that sweater. My feelings are similar...love autumn, yet do not enjoy seeing the light dwindle nor the cold come. Your colors there in the first photo are very pleasing.

A very cute sweater. There's something to enjoy in every season, if we only embrace it. But it is sad to have the light go away.

I love Grace's sweater. It turned out so nice, and she chose a very pretty combination of colors, I think. What a lovely and interesting life she has, with her many talents.
Autumn is usually my favorite time of the year, but this year, I don't quite feel altogether ready to truly relax and enjoy the longer evenings, but I do usually enjoy the cozy aspects of them, candles, and "full" meals, flannel nightgowns, needlework and all the rest. We had a tiny sprinkling of rain here this morning, and we're supposed to finally have a few days of real rain. It has seemed this week like all of nature has been holding its breath, waiting and hoping for it, as the clouds have built up, and the temperatures have dropped. It has been too long.
