We had about half a foot of snow in our neck of the woods yesterday! Quite a surprise I might add, as snow predictions haven't exactly panned out over the last few months. Just a few miles south, into town, there were only momentary flurries. It was hard to imagine. It was so all encompassing here. I snapped this picture at daybreak, just before the big fluffy snow cloud settled over us and dumped it's payload. The calm before the storm.
Today, we are expecting bucketfuls of rain, possible flooding (in some areas), and severe wind. Time to batten down the hatches, warm up some cocoa, hunker down . . . and get out needle and thread.
In case your hands are empty and eager for something to do, here's another pattern page out of my book, Embroidery Craft: Stitching through the Seasons. This is one of the theme samplers, called, what else? Skate Party! Quite appropos for a snowy day in January, I think. The entire piece can be embroidered as is, or with the felt appliques which are fun to work with. To download the pattern, click here or on the image.
Thank you, Thank you! I love skating and often think back to the good old days when every weekend my friends and I went skating.I plan to make your pattern into a little pillow to remind me of those happy days.

What a neat post! I love the shots of your snow, peeking out the lace clad window.. sweet! And I adore the embroidery! I'm still loving my little tiny cake you made. It's sitting on the sideboard in my dollhouse dining area. I think I need some cupcakes too. :-) ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

I've so enjoyed hearing the excitement in the Northwest Coast Bloggers' voices as each one announces the snow. It's in your voice, too. I say that it looks really good over there! Sweet embroidery and darling appliques.

Thanks so much; this is adorable! I didn't think I needed another project to do this winter, but I may just have to adjust my plans and make this. It's pretty much irresistible.

Your snow pictures look so magical! We haven't had snow so far this year here in the Essex UK and I do like the snow! Your skating embroidery is so adorable, you really are very talented!
