After all the careful hand-stitching on these blocks, I probably should have taken the time to hand-quilt this too. But there is something to be said for machine quilting. Especially when the stitching is done "in the ditch". That is, hidden in the seams. Hidden, being the operative word here. And it's fast--and I am all for moving this project along now. I'm cutting bias strips today for it, and then making pickles. Yep, it's that time again and I've got baskets bulging with garden bounty that needs to be put up. Plus a list of other seasonal tasks to tackle. Summer is winding down, but I'm still running, it seems. Hopefully, I'll have a finished state flower quilt to show for it soon.
I'm anxiously waitng for the grand finale!
I know it will be beautiful.
I am in the "Dog Days" of summer. Actualy they are winding down. 100+degrees days are almost over. My summer was spent in the garden & kitchen, same as you. My favorite pickles are Bread and Butter. I made plenty this year. I wish you the same.

I love your quilt "in the middle of things" photo. I knew an old lady when I was newly married named "Granny Nell" and I ordered a quilt for my baby to be. She hand-quilted a Sunbonnet Sue and Overall Sam with pink squares for me and her stitches are so tiny you would not believe it. Good job on the pickles too.
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Whew! Sounds like a busy summer for you too. Bet you will be glad when the dog days are done! Bread & Butter pickles are next on my list--I just filled a gallon jar of dills for the fridge and am finally off my feet for awhile. Will do a little more tomorrow.

Granny Nell sounds like quite a lovely gal! I'm always impressed with those tiny quilting stitches; I can never get mine like that no matter how tiny my needle is. I bet she loved every minute of creating such a darling quilt for the baby to be too!
