I just wandered in from my sewing room after putting the last finishing detail on this; a bit of vintage rick-rack as "grass"---it's interpretive, use your imagination here. (smile) Yesterday, after I found this cute old pattern among my boxes of orphan transfer sheets, I literally dropped everything I was doing and took up my embroidery needle. It's been awhile since I stitched anything and I could not resist such cuteness. Spring chicks also seemed like the perfect "conclusion" to the newest*sweet surprises* towel designs too (don't ya think?), so I made them part of this month's bonus collection which is up on the website now. And...I'm giving away the dishtowel shown here! No April foolin' either. Leave a comment to enter the drawing and I'll announce a winner on Good Friday (4-10). My sincere apologies to International readers, but due to sky-high postage rates this drawing is limited to U. S. residents. OK, I think that's it...now I need to go make more of these.
*Comments are closed--a winner will be chosen soon*
I love your site, I'm always waiting to see whats next and the sweet surprises are the best this is my fav so far,my kitchen is all roosters and hens I cant wait to stitch it! Oh and by the way I dont mind winning either.

I would love to cherish those little chicks!
Your white kitty looks like my first cat Duffy. I found him when I was five, he was fat and pure white like yours.. he lived to a ripe old age even though he was a wild sort of guy.
Love your blog!

Love the embroidered towel!!! The chicks are precious. Reminds me of towels that my Grandmother used to do. She actually taught me how to do all kinds of handwork. Embroidery, quilting, knitting, smocking, etc. Thanks for having this special drawing.
Love & blessings from NC!

Posted by: kristine hanson | April 04, 2009 at 10:33 PM
Oh, how adorable and sweet. I'm probably the only commenter who's tearing up right now looking at the towel - it reminds me of my grandma whose funeral I went to on Friday - she made it to 99 years and 10 months. She used to put ric-rac on all of her necklines. I know that's where my love of ric-rack comes from. She also embroidered, knit, crocheted, sewed and tatted (if you don't know what tatting it, it's worth looking up). She was quite talented.
Your work is as always beautiful and so cheerful. What a delight your site is!

So simple and pretty! OH how I wish I knew how to sew like you... I would
love to make such things!!!
I fell for a similar blouse in a recent Sundance catalog... cost a fortune,
plus another fortune to ship, and was made in China, and made like....
ahem... So be doubly happy you were able to create something good because
you probably would not have cared for the garment that inspired you!
