Summer's back after a brief cool down. I actually prefer the cloudy weather over the blazing sun, but then, we wouldn't have these wild blackberries now would we?
Or apples for this...
...or lovely tender little raspberry morsels.
Picked here, on the honor system. (click on the pix to read the signs.)
To be put into pies.
Sarah was helping, hence the hearts.
And they tasted as good as they looked! Summer never tasted so sweet.
thank you for a lovely taste of your summer.

Your summer looks just so delicious! The shot of the blackberries is delightful, I feel as if I could pick a few myself! And your little tarts are sweet as can be! Happy summer to you!

I can't remember where you live but here in Kansas where I live (and am surrounded by ACRES of blackberries) the blackberries are so delicious right now that you barely need to sugar them for pies. Sigh. So good. I feel like I am on a treasure hunt every time I go picking. Probably because of all the danger involved with the picking what with the thorns.

Can you please tell us or email me the recipe! I really, really want it. I haven't seen any recipes for raspberry pies and raspberry is really the only berry I eat.

I have many fond memories of picking blackberries with my grandparents. Grandpa would throw old plywood in the back of the truck and a ladder. At the huge vines we would pick al the ones we could in the front, and then up went the ladder and the plywood on top of the vines. My brother and I would sit for hours picking form the top of the vines, and we didn't get so caught into the stickers that way! Of course, you need to wear good heavy old clothes! Yum!

Your baking looks so good, I can almost smell the homemade goodness from here. I might have to head into my kitchen and get busy with summer's bounty.

Oh wow, those little pies look delicious. I've got a container full of blackberries in the fridge and I'm either going to make pies or cobbler with it. Mmmm :o) Your post perfectly captured the feelings of summer. Hope your week is off to a great start!

The house I lived in years ago had a HUGE blackberry bush that was from the Knott family, of Knott's Berry Farm. They were the best, and oh how I miss them on vanilla ice cream on a summer evening! Thanks for the stroll down memory lane.
