Tot's Tote

2008_0130image_035 There's just no end to the creativity out there, and here's proof of that.  This darling tote and teddy bear set was made by Mercedes, a turkey feathers reader in New Zealand, who sent me this photo and gave me her blessing to share it on my blog since she doesn't have one (yet).  All this was for her daughter's little friend, who was having a party to celebrate her fourth birthday.  Mercedes used my Hugs & Kisses tote bag tutorial and personalized it with the child's name, then made a matching doll quilt with the left-over scraps.  In fact, she told me that all this was created using what she had.  She purchased the bear though, and used this free pattern tutorial for the dress, compliments of Raggedy Old Annies, along with another old doll pattern for the accessories.  Last I heard, she'd taken the stuffing out of a cushion she wasn't using to make little lambkin.  I just cracked up when I heard that.  Apparently her young daughter found it with the seam open and stuffing hanging out and quickly declared, "I didn't do it!"  Nothing will be safe now...

SO CUTE< THANKS FOR SHARING!

Thanks so much for posting this Vicki, it's so exciting to see it on your blog. You are such an inspiration to me. Keep those ideas coming - now I have to make something to use up the rest of that cushion stuffing before little Miss sees that it ends up strewn around the house!

I,ve only just found your Blog and I'm just in awe. With every Blog I find things just get better and better. Your sewing and ideas are amazing and I just love your garden and all the wildlife. Such talented girls too.

Yay for using what you have and stretching your creativity! That is wonderful

Bravo Mercedes! You need to get yourself a blog so we can see more lovely works from you!

That is too funny about the open pillow. It reminds me of when I was little and my dad was training to be a doctor. He would tear open our stuffed animals and dolls so he could practice stitching them closed, like he would in surgery. It was a bit traumatizing.
There is nothing like a good vintage embroidery pattern, which reminds me; I better get to your shop while the husband is feeling generous. Who knows when that will happen again. Have a great day. Love Stacy

That is just sew cute! Mercedes did a great job. Thanks for sharing!

Darling!
I just made a lambkin....or several as well LOL, posted them in the lambkin gallery.

I also tweaked the pattern a little to make a chick which quite strongly resembles a duck LOL. I will send you a picture when I finish it, it needs some eyeballs first.

Thanks for sharing the pattern with us, I was too terrified of making a stuffy, didn't think I could. It's amazing what we can accomplish if we try.

Beautiful Mercedes! How can one go wrong with Vicki's patterns and ideas--she has the greatest...Hint , hint....book Vicki~LOL!

Adorable...great creativity. I love the tote and the little lambkin. Great use of recycling what you have.

This album will also serve to keep me on track. Feel free to try out the recipes and cook along with me! The idea for this was initially blogged here: http://turkeyfeathers.typepad.com/turkey_feathers/2006/10/quiche_love.html
