Dollhouse Delights

100_8012 I spent an entire summer in 1993 putting together this Victorian dollhouse from a kit.  We were living in southern California at the time, where it's mostly dry and sunny, so I'd set up my "building site" on top of a picnic table, outside under a covered patio.  It was the first time I'd ever tried to make anything like this and it was a painstakingly slow process as I 100_8099 meticulously went through each step according to the directions, most of which I couldn't quite figure out.  Also, glue takes time to dry so I'd work on this sporadically in between doing other things.  Yes, mistakes were made and a few things had to be redone, but I kept going because I really just wanted to decorate it!  Imagining all the little things to put in it, kept me motivated to finish.  The results of which have happened over the course of years now as I've picked up things here and there.  It's been an ongoing project from the start.

The nursery is quite full at the moment.

A lovely well-stocked larder with cakes, pies, cookies, and other fantasy foods fit only for dolls.  There's something so magical about a dollhouse to me.  It's a world that can seem quite real with its inhabitants taking on a life of their own.  Here's more, and some simple kids play types here.  And one of my favorites; this book was written about it in more detail.  100_8080 These diminutive surprise packages are being sent to Amy today for the BadgeClub Little House swap that we are participating in.  Grace put these together for it and neither one of us can wait to see what the other club members are doing.   The deadline is at the end of the month...but oh-me-oh-my I don't think I can wait that long!
