Cat in the Cradle

100_7809 Here's a new favorite corner, or maybe I should say, this is Lily's new favorite corner.   I finally worked up the courage to ask the Mister to chop the old changing-table in half to make a cat crib.  I've had the idea for a while but, you know, sentiment gets in the way sometimes.  No telling how old this thing is, we bought it at a garage sale for a few bucks many years ago, and it's seen a lot of diaper changes.  We'd been using it as a sort of toy bin after it was outgrown.  I covered the foam pad with a pretty vintage fabric but then I started thinking of all that loose cat hair, having to remove and wash it (often) to keep my allergies in check,  and decided to toss an old towel on top.  Easier to wash.  Lily seemed to feel more at ease with the towel anyway, and has hardly moved from this spot since I set this thing down on the floor a week ago.   It's tucked away behind the sofa and is the perfect spot for birdwatching and sunbathing.  Hmmm... I think this post might just qualify for use what you have and fave corners

It so qualifies for use what you have! I love it. I saw some photos in the group the other day of a woman who turned drawers into shelves and it was incredible! I hadn't thought of using furniture that way.

Wow Vicki, what a neat idea! My 4 kitties would be fighting over it! That's what they do over the wicker laundry basket that I bought for Garfield a few years back. Poor Garfield almost never gets to use it because the other 3 are always fighting over it. Garfield is very polite!

you're amazingly talented and have suce a great eye! your girls are so lucky!

I just love beautiful Lily. She reminds me so much of our beloved Smudge. Smudge was all white with one blue and one green eye. She had a dark spot on her forehead that faded after the first year but the name stuck. We had our very shy kitty for 19 1/2 years.

Oh well THAT's a great idea! I love it and am going to have to remember it for the future of our similar changing table. thanks. AND your kitty is beautiful.

oh vicky - is she the cutest cat ever?? how sweet... and what a great idea!

What a sweet idea. She looks like a very deserving (and appreciative) kitty. My cat only sleeps on clean laundry, no matter what else I offer.

What a beautiful kitty! He's big and I want to hug him and squish him. You know if you put cushions on the bottom and across the back of that second half you could have a little sofa.

I love your cat's new crib. Mine just got a new bed too...see it here...http://twostraightlines.typepad.com/two_straight_lines/2006/04/kitty_craft.html

How brilliant!!!

Love your kitty. Love his nose!!

A-Z Quiche

  • new year's "brunch cups"
I'm attempting to make a quiche for each letter of the alphabet. Since I often get requests for recipes, I'll be compiling everything here for easy reference. This album will also serve to keep me on track. Feel free to try out the recipes and cook along with me! The idea for this was initially blogged here: http://turkeyfeathers.typepad.com/turkey_feathers/2006/10/quiche_love.html
