Bags Galore

Bags16 More bags I've been stitching up in my spare time, perfecting my designs and figuring out new techniques.  I just do what inspires me while I'm in the moment. Sometimes I'm influenced by Japanese crafts, and thanks to molly chicken posting this link for the new issue of Cotton & Paint, I spent way too many hours over Greenbaghere.  Happily so.  My taste still runs eclectic and the evidence of that is obvious when I look at these bags.  Each one is different and unique in it's own unplanned way.  This green one I made for Grace using Amy Butler fabrics.  The little ceramic button was Greenbag1 part of a swap I did with the delightful Ms. LK last year who designs and makes all kinds of incredible things, and her button was perfect here.

The bags are great! I am really liking ric-rac lately and bought some to put on my "old coat". The paper cranes are lovely and a great use for old magazines!

Great bags, nice colour combinations and LOVE ric rak!

REPLY: it seems to be all about the rick-rack around here too and
i'm always thinking...let's see what can i do with it next.

great bags! Grace's is my favorite..

Wonderful bags, all of them!!!!
I like the paper cranes...I can imagine that a flock of them would look so good hanging from the ceiling.

All of the bags look wonderful! I am interested in the sweet vintage one, if you could email me about the cost, etc, I would appreciate it!

lovely bags!

i know it's old, but is the orange loop bag (still) for sale? it's fabulous!

if it is, i'd be interested. would you want to swap for it? i have tons of yarn & some fabrics, etc
let me know :-)

As usual, I love the bags you make! I am quite eclectic in my taste also. I have been producing bags lately too and I find that they vary widely in style and color--I guess that is part of the fun!

Just curious--What find of interfacing do you use?

REPLY: All kinds. That's been part of my experimentation process. Finding the perfect interlining. So far I've used them all, from iron-on synthetics, buckram, Timetex, fleece, and quilt batting. I can't even really say which one I prefer, since some work better for certain things, and each has drawbacks and benefits. I'm still on the fence about what works best.

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

I would buy that that polka-dot one in a heartbeat!! BUT, I've been spending too much money lately and must show some restraint!! eeekk!! The tote you made for Grace is WONDERFUL! Those colors are some of my very fav. The paper cranes are super, I bet they are so interesting looking with the magazine pages. Beautiful things here again V.!! But of course! :)

I really like the patchwork bag....and looking through your photos I like Amber's tote also. Do you create the patterns yourself or do you disclose your source? If you could email me your price on the patchwork bag I would think it over, although I have plenty of fabric myself I should just get to work.

REPLY: Yes, I do create the patterns myself. If I do happen to make something from a pattern I always try and remember to credit the source or at least mention where the inspiration for it came from. I do this mostly for pleasure so by selling a few things I'm able to support my sewing and crafting habit.

i adore those bags...
they are truly beautiful.

and wow,
the paper cranes..
that is so cool
:)

I especially love the middle bag in the top photo... the rick rack and the stripes and circles, so lovely! And Grace's bag, I love the colours on that one too. I've never seen brown rick rack before, it's so grand! :)

Love the bags! You have a beautiful eye for combining fabrics and little details like the button hoop.

Whoa, great color combos on those bags! And how sweet of your daughter to thank you by making you something in return!

I love the bags - what a wonderful selection!

Please pass on my compliments to your Ginger - the cranes are lovely! I especially like that they're made from recycled magazines - it adds so much interest to them. Thank you for the link, too! (Can you tell how excited I am? I think I've used up my quota of exclamation points for the day! oops!)

Your bags are just gorgeous! I lovelovelove the mix of colors and prints. I'm an eclectic kind of gal too.

ohhh ... is that floral bag to the right still available? i would LOVE to have it... pretty please, with sugar, whipped cream and LOTS of cherries on top!?!

ooooh! Your bags are so yummy and the color combinations are perfect! Beautiful!

Absolutely lovely bags! I would like to see more photos of them. The blue-green one is stunning. Your daughter has great taste and some great luck to have a mom with such creativity.

Have you bought anything from Kittycraft? I love their fabric and would also like some magazines, but with the shipping being so expensive, I wondered how their service is?
Thank you - your bags are delicious!

I really like this blue and brown bag. Do you have more of it? How much?

Hello-

I am very interested in possibly getting something similar to the bag that you made for your daughter Grace using Amy Butler fabrics. Is there any chance that this can be replicated?
Thank you
C Sancilio

A-Z Quiche

  • new year's "brunch cups"
I'm attempting to make a quiche for each letter of the alphabet. Since I often get requests for recipes, I'll be compiling everything here for easy reference. This album will also serve to keep me on track. Feel free to try out the recipes and cook along with me! The idea for this was initially blogged here: http://turkeyfeathers.typepad.com/turkey_feathers/2006/10/quiche_love.html
