Multi-Tasking

Gwallp

It's day two of rip and tear, and what kid wouldn't love to do this? What grown person for that matter. It's cathartic in a way, peeling off the old layers, revealing the possibilities of things to come. And it's exciting because (oh joy--oh goody goody) I can finally hang a picture on the wall. So today I spent another 3 hours soaking and stripping paper. It went fast, the hardest part was moving all the "plunder". This forces me (once again) to face the fact that I am a pack-rat. And I feel like one as I wind through a Wallpaper2maze of stuff stacked here and there and everywhere, around every turn. Years of crafting leads to this you know and you find yourself thinking, I can't throw this out, I might need it for something, some project. Chances are one in ten that you do and that just reinforces it for the 90% you don't need but store just in case.   OK.  Back to the job at hand, the Wallwik strips are up soaking...and I am off in another room sorting through a bunch of old patterns that arrived from stitching friends last week.
Amazing patterns from so long ago, kept intact in basements and attics across the land. You just have to marvel at how well preserved some of these are, and so fragile. I'm almost afraid to handle these too much for fear they will just split and crumble to bits, just so grateful they were saved.  M1336eI especially love the apron pattern from 1947 with this 'South of the Border' theme. But those two figures at the bottom; is she sweeping or chasing this fellow off with her broom? Too funny!! I hope to restore the patterns and offer them on my website soon. But first the wallpaper and then the jam. Those berries will not last another day. I might not either at this rate! Where's my glass of pink lemonade?
